Mamata Banerjee to skip opposition meet in Delhi on presidential poll | India News – Net4News

KOLKATA: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who had convened a meeting of 17 opposition parties in Delhi last week to discuss the probable candidates for presidential elections in July, will not attend the next meeting that is hosted by NCP leader Sharad Pawar in Parliament’s annex building on Tuesday.
Instead, her nephew and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is likely to represent the party in the meeting. TMC Rajya Sabha whip Sukhendu Sekhar Ray said, “Mamata Banerjee had made it clear in the June 15 meeting that the next one will be convened by Sharad Pawar ji. She had said due to pre-scheduled programmes, she will be unable to attend the next one in person, but the party will be represented at the meeting. She had also made it clear that TMC will back the opposition’s unanimous choice for the presidential candidate,” he said.
