Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray had made up his mind to quit on June 22, the second day of the Eknath Shinde camp’s revolt and the day he returned to his private residence Matoshree, reports Prafulla Marpakwar.
A day later, NCP‘s Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel and Jayant Patil and CongressRevenue minister Balasaheb Thorat and public works minister Ashok Chavan had separately called on him to take stock of the situation. They asked Uddhav not to quit as there was no threat to the MVA government.
A high-profile politician told TOI that Thackeray’s contention then was that if someone had doubts about his leadership, they must tell him frankly, along with the reasons for a rebellion.
