‘BJP is ready with strategy, expects new government by Sunday’ | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: BJP has drafted a strategy to topple the MVA government, if a senior politician is to be believed. Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde is likely to land in the city in a day or two and hand over a letter to governor B S Koshyari urging him to call for a floor test on the ground that the MVA government has lost its majority. The other plan is for BJP itself to give a letter to Koshyari to call for a floor test and if the governor calls for a special session, the party will ensure the rebel Sena legislators do not attend the session, making the fall of the MVA government certain.
The senior politician said, “If all goes well, we expect a new government to be installed in the state on Saturday or Sunday.”
State BJP awaits orders from the top for plan
The state BJP leadership is awaiting instructions from the party high command on successfully implementing its strategy to topple the MVA government. The likely action plan gained momentum after the SC verdict on Monday.
On the question of a split in the Sena and the row over a merger in the BJP or the MNS, a senior politician said that since rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde himself is leader of the Shiv Sena legislature party and he has claimed that he represents the real Shiv Sena, there was no question of a merger with BJP or MNS.
If the government falls with the rebels not attending the special session and a new CM is elected, he will immediately begin the process for election of the new speaker, who will recognize the Shiv Sena faction led by Shinde as the real Sena legislature party, the politician said. Both plans are ready. “But they must be foolproof. We should not have a situation like that when Devendra Fadanvis was sworn in along with Ajit Pawar in the wee hours and the government lasted for less than two days,” the leader said.
