Bengaluru: Two women rescued from lodge’s hidden chamber | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Central Crime Branch (CCB) police raided a lodge in Cottonpet on Monday and rescued two women from a secret chamber. They arrested the lodge owner and the receptionist on human trafficking charges.
The accused are Jagadish, 39, owner of Durga Palace Lodge and receptionist Mahadev, 30. A police team raided the lodge based on a specific tipoff about prostitution. Police checked all the rooms and found no women. But one congested room on the fourth floor appeared strange when compared to the others.
Police found utensils and other items in a corner. When they knocked on a wall in the corner, cops suspected there could be a secret chamber behind it. They asked the suspects to clear the area of utensils and noticed a 2ft x 3ft tile in the corner was removable. They removed it, only to find that it was an opening to a chamber where two women were hiding.
The women alleged Jagadish and Mahadesh had hired them to cater to their customers. The suspects had put in place CCTV cameras and on noticing any cops approaching the building, they would signal the women to go and hide in the chamber.
2 more lodges raided
CCB police also raided two more lodges – one in City Market and another in Kalasipalya – and rescued five women and arrested four more people.
